What Makes Content Go Viral?

social media

Great content is KING! So many people are focused on the Return on their social media campaign, that they often forget what social media is really about. Relationships and True Connections. Relationships through social media sites are often built through the types of content that is posted.

Companies love to talk about themselves, what the company is doing, what new sale they have going on, who they’ve hired, blah, blah, blah. But therein lies no power. Social Media success comes through great relationships and rapport with your network. What better way to build rapport with your social network than creating great content that keeps them coming back for more.

If you have 5,000 people in your Facebook fan base, and they all have only visited your Facebook page once – that was to like it, then what good is it to have a Facebook fan page? The key to engaging fans enough to where they want to buy from you is through keeping them coming back to your Facebook page, Twitter account, blog or YouTube videos often as well as to have the people in your network share the content you post with their friends.

3 Ways to Make Content Go Viral:

1. Post funny pictures that go along with your content

2. Run Contests and Giveaways

3. Ask questions, such as fill in the blanks or with poll options; people love to offer their opinion

Making content go viral is not as easy as it sounds. Just because you know how to spell correctly and you have good grammar does not mean you will post content that goes viral. There is an art and science to how you post, what you post and even when you post it to your network.

Small things like capitalizing the first words of the start of a sentence, ex. Funny Friday can make a huge difference in the way people respond to your content. Creating very catchy titles to put with your content such as “Thankful Thursday” also helps people to take notice to the content being posted, more often then just posting a sentence.
